Robiraki 2021

It was nice to gather together with my tea students and tea friends for the opening hearth tea gathering this year. (we needed to do online last year)

In old days, it is said that the hearth of the tea room was opened when the color of yuzu had changed to yellow. (柚子の色づく頃に)

We had ten guests this year and decided to have two seatings at 10 am and 11:30 am.

Guests enjoyed zenzai (red bean soup) with three colored mochi Koicha in a waiting room since our robiraki was held on the day of Halloween!

Saga-kiku (chrysanthemum) and birch in Suzu vase (珠州焼)were our flowers.

A host prepared thick tea (koicha) in 5 separated tea bowl (kakufuku-date, 各服点) . This may be a new tradition?

Late autumn / early winter sky…..
